Bro. Pershing was raised to the sublime degree of Master Mason on December 22, 1888 in Lincoln Lodge No. 19 in Lincoln, Nebraska.

Bro. Pershing received the 4th through 32nd degrees of Scottish Rite Masonry on April 9, 1920, in Wheeling, West Virginia.

In July, 1925, Bro. Gen. Pershing was presented the sword of Bro. Gen. Jose Antonio Paez.
