Harry W. Rosenbloom

Harry W. Rosenbloom was born in Rochester, New York in 1884, son of Max and Anna Rosenbloom, pioneer Jewish settlers in the area.

Harry enlisted on 13 October, 1917 in Columbus, Ohio, at the age of 32.  His occupation is listed as chauffer.

He was appointed Sergeant on 3 December, 1917. After completing his course in balloon training with the Aviation Corps, he spent his furlough at his parents’ home in Rochester, New York. Sgt. Rosenbloom departed Newport News, VA, for France aboard the U.S.S. America at 3:00 pm, 30 June, 1918. He was in the Toul Sector 9-22 September, Meuse-Argonne/Verdun 22-26 September and St. Mihiel 26 September - 11 November, 1918. Bro. Rosenbloom departed Bordeaux, France as part of the 9th Balloon Company Air Service aboard the U.S.S. Susquehanna on 20 April, 1919.  He was honorably discharged on 10 May, 1919.

Brother Rosenbloom was active in politics, serving on the Veterans’ Reception Committee for the Monroe County Democrats’ rally in October 1932.

Brother Rosenbloom died unexpectedly on 9 June, 1940 in Rochester, New York.  At the time of his death, he was a senior investigator for the New York Department of State, Rochester Office and an active member of the American Legion.
