Waldemar Hans Alexander

Waldemar Hans Alexander was born on 13 November, 1896, in Chicago Illinois, son of Joseph and Adele E. Schloetzer Alexander.  He resided in Ward 25, Chicago until he joined the Army.

Waldemar enlisted in the Army on 7 December, 1915 (1375576).  He reported for duty on 19 June, 1916.  Appointed Private, First Class on 29 July, 1916.  Sgt. Alexander shipped out to France on 27 May, 1918, from Brooklyn, NY, aboard the U.S.S. Kashmir as part of Battery B, 122nd Field Artillery Regiment, 33rd Division.  He received his Military Occupancy Specialty on 17 November, 1916.

He shipped out of France on 16 May, 1919, aboard the U.S.S. America, out of Brest, France, on route to Hoboken, NJ and eventually to Camp Mills.

He was awarded a Certificate of Honorable Commendation by North Shore Lodge No. 937 on 29 October, 1919.

 
 

After the war he continued to reside in Chicago and on 6 June, 1923 he married Ruby L. Dryden.  They remained married until Ruby’s death in 1958.  Their son, Robert Joseph, was born in 1927.

Brother Alexander passed away on 31 December, 1977, in Park Ridge, Illinois.
